Explaining Sportpesa's Jenga Bet

Africa’s betting giants Sportpesa, have launched a new type of bet/selection known as ‘Jenga Bet’. We first saw this type of unique selection on UK’s ‘SkyBet” and ‘Pinnacle’.

While Sportpesa have done some work explaining to its customers what ‘Jenga Bet’ is all about, its clear evident from our little ask around, not many Kenyans are conversant with this concept.

With 5 Possible events to choose from all in one match, this is the stuff of dreams for Forward thinking punters. Infact, for careful team analysts, knowledge of your team can actually earn you more cash here just as it does on the ‘live games’ selection.

  • Who will score

This is the most obvious of all. Your selection shall trigger a drop down list that shall give you the chance of selecting the player who you think would score. Each player has different odds ranking lowly from the most likely of goalscorer rising to the least likely of goal scorers.

You are pretty sure, Four years ago: A 32 year Old John terry would have earned you 8 massive goals and that’s some really good odd’s average for a defender translating to some decent amount of cash.

  • Who will get carded

Team discipline has always been at the centre of every team’s analysis: pre and post match. You now have even a greater chance to bet on it. Depending on your overall knowledge of players, Xhaka averages 10 yellow cards over a 38 game season in which he starts just 20 or less. That’s a whooping ½ chance of a yellow card in a game he starts. Odds calculates? 1.5 i bet.

However it’s not fair to try this for Chelsea’s Christensen, guy rarely picks cards. In Fact in the whole of the 2017/18 season, he picked none. And Yes, he started tons of games.

  • How many corners

You got to be a very keen fan to mostly get this right. Watching a team with so much details makes you learn very interesting things about them. Do not try this for teams you do not watch often i.e, trying this on the Albanian League. A quick index shows Bournemouth, Southampton and Leicester games had the most corners in the EPL 2017/18 season. This is thanks to good attacks and poor defences of the same teams as its easy for them to win corners and easier even for them to concede the same. Depending on the number of corners you chose from the drop down selection- we wish you the very best of luck.

  • How many booking points

This must be the least known type of selection, but we gonna do a simple and brief explanation of the same.

If you think a football game is about to get nasty, bet on total booking points and bag yourself some cash.

Sportpesa and most bookies thereafter who shall go this way shall mostly assign booking points for red and yellow cards and let you bet on how many points you think there'll be over the course of a match. In normal circumstances unless explained otherwise by the bookie:

A yellow card shall earn 10 points and a red card 25 points.

  • If a player receives 2 yellow cards and is consequently shown a red card, he/she receives a total of 35 booking points.

  • Extra-time does not count nor do cards shown after the final whistle count towards the total.
  • Only cards shown to players currently on the pitch will count. Cards shown to managers or substitutes do not count towards the total.

Currently, Sportpesa have just the ‘Under’ and ‘Over’ selections on their platform. But as you shall learn, other betting companies. Shall have even ‘tied Booking points’ selection on their platforms, I wonder why Sportpesa do not have that option.

  • Will both teams score?

It’s just GG or NG. Easy as that. Simple YES or NO explanation ENDS it here.
